I am Sylvia Hove, the Founder and Trustee of the Fishers Foundation – Domboshava Community Project. Born, raised, and educated in Zimbabwe, I now reside in the USA, where I continue to pursue my passion for community development, environmental sustainability, cultural tourism, and food security through impactful initiatives like Project Grow Again.

My work is guided by a deep commitment to making a difference wherever I am. I actively serve on several boards and committees, contributing to efforts that provide student scholarships, support local food pantries, and drive initiatives like the Give a Hoot Program. I am a member of women's organizations that promote education and lifelong learning.

As a Shona and cultural consultant, I have collaborated with renowned institutions, including McCarter Theater (Princeton), Woolly Mammoth Theater (DC), The Wilma Theater (Philadelphia), Yale Drama School, and Playwrights Horizons. My contributions include working on Danai Gurira's acclaimed plays The Convert and Familiar and assisting with Shona language aspects of the Off-Broadway production Breakfast with Mugabe.

Through my work, I aim to bridge cultural heritage and modern solutions to create stronger, more resilient communities in Zimbabwe and the USA.

Our Communities:

Like a seed, a community needs care, nurturing, and growth to thrive and bear fruit. A true sense of community is cultivated through active involvement and connection, reminding us of our shared responsibility to care for our planet. At Domboshava West/Africa, we foster relationships and bridge the gap between local and global communities.

If we eat, we must also contribute to sustaining the resources that nourish us. Our survival depends on a healthy planet, and meaningful community participation is essential in addressing challenges like climate change and the lack of clean water in many regions.

Understanding the struggles of others requires empathy, knowledge, and action. By embracing diversity and inclusion, we enhance our ability to work together and create solutions that benefit all. Our digital platform is a hub for valuable resources, educational materials, and opportunities to engage with communities worldwide.

Together, we can grow stronger, deepen our understanding, and make a lasting impact on the planet we all call home.
